In September I’ll be taking the night train to Lisbon on a one way ticket. I visited over Easter and decided immediately. Never before have I come across a place that I feel so ready to settle without criticism - hitherto the only serious contender was a fantasy combination of Dartmoor, Barcelona’s city beaches, and the throb and grit of 4am Brixton.
I have just had my first lesson and learnt that post office is plural (unlike here in the UK where they’re dropping like flies) ; and that I should not confuse mulher with mula - particularly when describing my Aunt.
