About Maria

My husband and I moved here from the USA. We both worked in the music industry in New York and we were on the road a lot – fun, but exhausting.

The economy took a turn and we pivoted to earning a living in the short-term rental business. We decided that we’d worked hard enough and sold everything we owned to make early retirement a reality.

After a year of picking oranges, drinking wine at lunch and mastering the art of the omelette, we decided that we were ready for another pivot. We started investing in real estate in the historic center, of Tomar and we now own a small building that we’ll fix up, as well as another building that has the only “bar” license in the old town, so we’re now planning on a cocktail lounge to launch next spring.
