My Chat with Gerry
I was feeling a little bit of a fraud going to have this conversation with Gerry today, because my house sale in the UK had fallen through about a year ago, resulting in most of my plans and my existing D7 visa paperwork i.e.police reports, etc etc etc were now consequently out of date, even the transport company who I had arranged to transport my ten dogs from Wales to Portugal had fallen foul of Brexit, and had gone out of business.
The housing market in the UK, not quite as dead as a door nail, but ….well you get the picture, and I was starting again at almost the very beginning…. apart from my NIF & Bank account still valid and still in place, however not really able to move ahead again with the move without new buyers and an offer on my house in Wales and so I was feeling a little despondent.
But I needn’t have been in the slightest bit concerned… Talking things over with Gerry put my mind at ease about many things…
We talked as if we had known each other for years, and today I certainly feel that I have made a new friend !!!
Gerry was kind, sympathetic and understanding of my situation and he went beyond the call of duty to listen to me, offering help, and suggesting other ways that we can overcome difficulties that may occur in the future when I eventually am once again able to make the move.
I am normally a great believer in thinking out of the box, but I had recently been derailed by events, not least by Brexit, and had slightly lost my way, if only just a little.
Thank you Gerry, in so many ways deciding to go ahead, breaking the ice and having my initial welcome chat with you, has done me the world of good and shown me that my dream move to Portugal is still not only an option but a reality !!!
So Upwards & Onwards ! Diolch yn fawr ! Obrigado ! Gerry :))
As for anyone reading this review, from my experience today, Gerry of Ex-pats Portugal comes highly recommended by me, and especially by the dogs :))
NB. We the dog’s recommend that you don’t hesitate, don’t wait, the sooner you join and make that initial contact the sooner you will achieve your dreams
A Gratitude-filled Ode to Gerry and the Expats Portugal Team
Big thanks to Gerry and the amazing Expat Portugal team!
They turned our residency concerns into a piece of cake.
Picture this: a chat with Gerry, and suddenly, bam! The right contacts, easy solutions, and zero stress. It’s like having your own personal navigation system for the expat life.
Thanks for making our Portugal adventure a breeze!
Consultation with Jacqui Acevedo
My wife and I had a delightful and most helpful conversation with Jacqui Acevedo. Jacqui addressed our concerns, answered our questions, and made quick referrals to people who could provide more in depth information about specific topics. Jacqui was informative, personable, and a pleasure to speak with.
Expats Portugal Rocks!
We are here to sing the praises of Expats Portugal, as we couldn’t have completed the arduous process of moving from the US to Portugal without this sterling group! Gerry, Carl, and the team, along with their business associates—Ei!, Winsurance, and GIR—have been absolutely wonderful in helping us navigate the pitfalls of an international relocation. And we would be remiss if we didn’t shout out the very kind expats who are on the Forum, always willing to help with our questions. As well, we would also like to thank the Premium Plus group members and especially Susan and Leif for their great kindnesses.
Our relocation process has taken roughly a year and a half, and we are soon to embark on our final flight across the Atlantic to our new home! We had many surprises and challenges along the way, but we felt in very good hands with Expats Portugal and Ei!. Always.
Gerry has been incredibly supportive and continually hands on, and Ei! has been extremely helpful—especially regarding our D7 and SEF processes, and finally, getting our NHR approval. A special thanks to Ei!’s Filipa, Constanca, Claudia, Beatriz, and Ana who assisted us.
Thank you, Gerry, for everything. We couldn’t have done this journey without your help…
ExPats Portugal is the best investment you can make in realizing your dream of living a new adventure in magnificent Portugal!

Great People and a Great Resource.
We became ‘Community’ members at the end of last year, and found the site to be extremely friendly and helpful. Our move to Portugal is likely to happen in the first half of 2024, so we upgraded to the ‘Premium’ membership to give us full access to all of the benefits that Expats Portugal has to offer.
Shortly after joining, we received a lovely welcome email from Gerry and the Dream Team, who explained the benefits of Premium membership and an invite to a ‘face to face’ meeting with one of the team.
Soon after we met Gerry, who is a great guy and so enthusiastic in the way he introduced himself, the dream Team and the wider the Expats community. He immediately made us feel at home and was easily able to address our immediate concerns. Our time together was all too brief, however by the time we finished, we felt like we were old friends.
Shortly after our meeting we received an email from Gerry summarising everything, along with a commitment from him to introduce us to the people that could assist us with our move. Those introduction emails were sent thereafter.
If you are serious about a move to Portugal, I would highly recommend becoming a Premium member of this great community.
Finally, a big thank you from us to Gerry and the Dream Team for such a warm welcome.
