Hello

i am in Lagos and need to replace the kitchen at my villa. Does anyone any suggestions of who to use (and who to avoid).

Not looking for the worlds greatest kitchen but want it done properly and for it to last but I do not know where to start.

Have read lots of stories about avoiding Ikea

All help appreciated

I've had my Ikea kitchen cabinets for almost 20 years and have been very happy with them. I've had no problems with them whatsoever. As to quality, It depends on what you compare them to and what level of finish you are aiming for.  Custom carpentry will (should) be a better quality, but of course much more costly.  Ikea is as good if not better than other off-the-shelf cabinetry, in my opinion.

I think our rental here in Lisbon with the Ikea cabinets looks very good for the cost. They are now 6 years old and holding up well. Pictures are here Ikeakitchen

If you don't want IKEA (had no problems with them, but also never bought a kitchen there...), you can look at Leroy Merlin (they have shops in Albufeira and Loulé).

I'm thinking also of buying IKEA for the villa we're buying.
We removed a wall, so it will be a huge fancy kitchen with sea view.
I like the idea of having spare parts for years, and the modular nature of IKEA.

I asked and they said they can deliver and install in about a month.
Also unlike other unknown suppliers, I can trust that I won't get ripped off 🙂
