With lockdowns starting to ease and most of us looking forward to enjoying eating out at restaurants again, I thought we could start a thread where you can list your favourite places to eat out. Any type of cuisine, any price point, and location.

Please mentioned where they are located and if they have a website, include the link too.

My current favourite is Hifen in Cascais.

Ah yes, we've eaten at the Coimbra one (it's called the Italian Indian Palace I think).  It's wasn't bad.   And then we drove past another one with a similar name in Vial Real when we were travelling last year - it made us laugh.... we didn't realise Italian Indian is even a thing.  Covering all bases, I guess 😉.    But I really like the sound of this one is Viseu.

Today I headed out for lunch with another Australian friend of mine - the first time since the restrictions have been lifted. We went to Downunder by Justin Jennings in Lisbon (who happens to be another Aussie which you may be able to tell from his restaurant name).

Justin has an amazing menu... today we enjoyed ceviche, then Pork Belly Tacos, the Kangaroo with Onion Jam and finished with Sticky Date Pudding. Great place to visit in the centre of Lisbon.

Is a really nice lunch location on the water, rent a canoe or go swimming in the lake/dam.
Beers and snacks at the bar. I know the have a restaurant there too.

Oh strange that google link did not seem to post right.

The place is called: Restaurante Vale Do Rossim.

I don't think they have a website or any socials.

Hopefully this link works.

Vale de Rosim is a great place to visit, especialy on a hot day. A beach near the top of Serra da Estrela and a lake filled with cold mountain water. It is rather out of the way, and the mountain roads make the journey  picturesque, but lengthy. Apart from the camp site the lake has no facilities.

Have you actually eaten at this restaurant? It has somewhat mixed reviews. As the next place you can eat is 30 minutes away I think it a it a bit risky without a solid recomendation.

I can recommend this one https://www.varandadaestrela.pt/restaurante-2/. The staff are friendly and remember us even if we have not been there for over 6 months. The food is very good and it is not expensive.

At the sumit the cafe at the bottom of the ski lifts offers spag boll (reheated) at exhorbitant prices. The resturant at the actual sumit is better, but is still aimed at day trippers.

Ohh that one you linked looks terrific.
No I have not eaten at the restaurant part of the establishment. Just quick order snacks from the bar that is facing the water. I usually go for a picnic out there and have always brought my own foods etc, to find a nice spot around the lake somewhere.

I will update this entry if I ever do dine in.

So many... but one place we love to return to is A Barquinha in Tavira. Unique and wonderful salads, some of the best fish and a 'Pork and Clams' that make my mouth water as I am typing! Run by two sisters originally from Angola. Julia is front of house and the place is often referred to as 'Julia's'.

O Paulo's at Arrifana near Aljezur is one of our favourites! It's a special place run by a wonderful Portuguese guy Paulo. Highly recommended (not the cheapest place to eat but for a special occasion ... it is fab!)
