I'm a bit of an anchorite so maybe I've missed something...but I have never seen a Spring Onion in Portugal,
Does anyone know if they even exist here?...better yet, does anybody know if they are obtainable in the Minho?
It's frustrating to find an interesting recipe & see that one of the ingredients in the cooking (not garnishing) is a chopped handful of these tasty little devils...& Chives are not a substitute, regrettably.

Bought them over the border at Halley!

I sometimes substitute with leeks too!

We get them down here in any townhall veg market.
Lidl has the bulbs currently.

I grow Welsh Spring Onions. They grow in clumps, just pull want you want as long as you leave one to keep multilpying. Mine have been growing for three years now. In fact I took some to the Car Boot at Miranda Do Corvo yesterday.

I visit Haley about once a month & always check the veg dept. Once I picked up what I thought to be spring onions but they turned out to be young garlic...not quite the same.
