I'm a blues/jazz musician and play piano. I'm planning on spending a few months in the fall to see if I want to live there. I have to have a piano though. Does anybody know of places in Lisbon or Porto  where I can rent a real piano, or maybe a music school or music store where I can rent out a practice room? I usually play 3-8 hours a day. I'm planning on connecting with the local musicians so now that I'm retired I can just play music every day. One option, not my first choice, is just buy a digital piano for $500 or something so I have something and just donate it or something when I'm done. Anybody know of good music stores? Thank you.

Made a google search and looks like there are plenty of places in Lisbon where you can rent an instrument. Just search online for "aluguer de instrumentos musicais lisboa" and contact them for availability and costs.

I don't have any answers but I'll be following this thread -- my dad is a professional musician and I'm certain he would love to have access to a practice room/piano rental/etc when visiting Lisboa.

I wonder if Hot Club de Portugal (either the club itself or contacting someone on the school side) might be a good place to make inquiries? Since we're in the midst of move prep, I have other things on my plate right now, but @memem if you don't find any answers soon, I'll eventually get to it (in a few months time probably) and will report back!

@sunil Thank you, and if I hear of something I'll let you know. I think you're right, just go to the Hot Club and explain what I'm looking for. I'm thinking that since I'll be in an apartment I think the only option is find a studio. I appreciate your getting back to me.

I found a place, www.musicroomlisboa.com and they have a practice room. It's a Yamaha digital but a decent piano. It seems centrally located from what I can tell.

@memem With a digital piano in your apartment, you could play to yourself via headphones at least...for your ears only.  Glad you will be bringing blues/jazz music talent to PT for others to enjoy.

I found another place, you can email them at office@roadiesdc.com. They told me they rent upright/grand/baby grand and digitals for however long I need one. They can do this in Lisbon and Porto.
