Our thanks to Safe Communities Portugal for this update/translation within the current State of Calamity:
 
DECREE LAW 62-A/2020 WEARING OF FACE MASKS - LAW NOW PUBLISHED
 
Transitional imposition of the mandatory use of a mask in public spaces
 
Article 1 - Object: This law, exceptionally, requires the use of a mask for access, circulation or permanence in public spaces and roads.
 
Article 2 - Territorial scope: This law applies throughout the national territory.
 
Article 3 - Use of mask:
1 - The use of a mask by persons aged 10 and over is mandatory for access, circulation or permanence in public spaces and roads whenever the physical distance recommended by health authorities proves impractical.
2 - The obligation referred to in the previous number is waived:
a) Upon presentation:
i) Medical certificate of multiple disability or medical declaration, in the case of people with cognitive impairment, development and psychological disorders;
ii) A medical statement attesting that the person's clinical condition is not consistent with the use of masks;
b) When the use of a mask is incompatible with the nature of the activities that people are carrying out;
c) In relation to people who are part of the same household, when they are not in the proximity of third parties.
 
Article 4 - Awareness campaign for the use of a mask:
Awareness campaigns are carried out, in the media and among the population, on the importance of wearing a mask in public spaces and roads, to guarantee the spontaneous adherence of the population to this and other measures of individual and collective protection, as well as to encourage the use of reusable masks and the correct disposal of non-reusable masks.
