So, I know Football (Soccer) is probably THE sport in Portugal, but what other sports do folks enjoy participating in, or watching? Are any of the following popular? Bocce ball, lawn bowling, bowling, fishing, kayaking, pickleball?
Thanks.

Last time I was in Coimbra there was a great battle of kayak soccer going on. Short, ocean like kayaks and everyone batting the ball into the net. Looked so fun and all I could think was man what a great workout. Do that and you can have an extra pastel da nata at the end of the day. Lot's of fishing, yoga, biking..... they have it all too 😎
Martin,
I suggest you connect up with some of the ex-pat groups here. That's a good place to meet people who participate in these group sports or know of others who participate. If you can figure out how to private message me, I think I can send some names & contact info that way but would not want to send to 3,000 forum members

Hi,
Not sure that you'll still read this, but Pickleball started in Portugal recently. There are several groups meanwhile: Porto, Óbidos, Lisboa and Vila Real de Santo António. If you need contact details or some more info, feel free to reach me.
Regards
I'd say the most popular sports in Portugal, either to see live or on TV, are football, basketball, handball, futsal, roller hockey, volleyball, swimming, Formula 1 racing, beach football, running, cycling.
