I went into my local pharmacy and they are "doing" flu injections.
If you go via your family doctor you get a reduced fee but I paid €5.75 and received the jab two minutes later.

Never had one of those. Do they really work?
No
In some workplaces it is mandatory to have one especially those working with elderly however the "experts" have to guess which strain of flu is likely to arrive in winter and order tens of millions of jabs.
Last year they got it wrong and so millions of people got the wrong vaccination and at considerable cost to the health service.
Saying that I went the full winter without even a cold but was laid low this spring with a stinker of a cold.
They analyse the hundreds of flu strains.
They pick out the ones most likely to kill vulnerable patients and use these in the flu jab.
No it does not stop you getting the flu,
ie it only protects you from the e.g. 5 out of 200 strains, but it will protect you against the ones that may kill.
Are there negatives, possibly, but if your in the at risks groups, the risk of death by flu, ie flu can quickly become an epidemic, may well outweigh any negatives, seek your Doctors advice is my opinion....
