What to bring? What to take to Portugal and what to leave behind?

Bom Dia! Hi all! My husband and I expect to be in Portugal permanently sometime next spring to fall. I've seen posts that say "bring only your clothes" and "bring kitchen equipment" and "stock up on OTC drugs." Our plan is to bring only the sentimental items (collected over 40 wonderful years of marriage) and our cat Lily. Thoughts? Do we bring our favorite pillows and blankets? Anything else? What did you bring that you're glad you did? What do you wish you'd brought?

Abrigada.

Anna and Steve

@mrsbrabbit

definitely bring some momentos as they will continue to bring you joy.

 I do recommend bringing OTC allergy meds if you need them. Glad I did.

Don’t bother with linens, pillows etc. They are not inexpensive here but are bulky and expensive to bring and readily available here. I got very nice pillows at IKEA and per recommendation of my doctor, don’t spend a lot on pillows as they should be replaced once a year or more often.

Portugal has everything you need and most things you want. And things you didn’t know you needed or wanted!

Shopping in Lisbon and Porto is fun and exciting and I am NOT a person who really enjoys shopping.

Bring comfortable shoes and clothes to start out and replace here as needed.

Everything and more for pets is available. Excellent vet care for reasonable prices.

Hope this helps. Message me if you want more specific info.
