Apologises for putting this message probably in the wrong topic area, but can anyone recommend a good removal company to take back boxes of personal belongings from Lourinha (silver costa) area to Peterborough area (Lincolnshire)?
When we moved here we used Transportugal but now going back it seems that we are being quoted for "more extras" for practically the same service as before.
Thanks
Marilia
Yes thanks for the recommendation, their quote seems to be quite reasonable compared to what we paid when we moved to Portugal.
Just another question, since we are now planning to move back to Uk and leaving the house as just a holiday home - what do most people do with their dishwasher? Does it need to be unplugged or salts drained in the system? - the reason I ask is if not used on a regular basis I presume it might perhaps breakdown because of non use? It was brand new to start with before we moved in permanently but in the future it will only be used occasionally probably once a year if that.
Apologises if it's a silly question but I thought I just might ask.
Unplug & turn water inlet off but you'll just have to chance rest
We are moving the other way next week. We booked TSA for our removal and due to having to know a specific date for completion reasons we spoke to Cesar who agreed to do the move on 10 November. With less that a week to go he asked it they could do it on 8 November but we said we couldn't be ready as family were visiting over the weekend so it would have to be our agreed date of 10 November. He then said he couldn't do the 10, after making an agreement. He then offered to have a container dropped off on 10 November but me and my wife would have to load it ourselves or hire a local removal company to do it for us.
When I asked about insurance he told me that we would have to buy our own insurance as we would be loading ourselves.
Totally unsatisfactory at such short notice. Totally unsatisfactory at an notice period, in my opinion.
I have now employed another company who are very professional and have been excellent in coming to the rescue. Goods being picked up as arranged, loaded and insured, stored for three to six months, at a price a little cheaper than TSA
I would not recommend TSA to anyone unless you are not bothered about the date they will show up to collect your goods, or you don't mind loading all your furniture yourself, you pay extra for insurance and provide your own packing materials such as blankets.
I have no doubt that others have has a positive experience with TSA but I haven't
Ged
Hi Ged,
Thanks for the feedback, I haven't totally used TSA yet, because we will only be moving back in the new year, so still investigating other alternatives at the moment. Would you mind letting me know which removal company you used? I found Transportugal not that brilliant when we used them for our move to Portugal, so I hope it wasn't them.
Thanks
Marilia
Shame to here you didn't have a positive experience Ged with TSA, ourselves and friends who have used them can only say that they have fulfilled exactly as quoted and agreed, the only reasonable I mentioned flexibility marilla was you seem as if it's a part load rather than full and this is always more difficult to organize especially to a price
