We off to Portugal on a viewing trip in February, hopefully to find our new home.
We will be following all the posts to get as much information as possible.
Looking to get a lawyer on board and start the process of getting our Nif when there.

Enjoy your trip and let us know more about areas you are thinking of viewing, it's always interesting to hear people's impressions. What areas are you focussing on? I find Portugal is a country of many different parts, so many differences in different regions.
I got my NIF using a tax representative as it was fairly cheap doing it that way and then I will use them to do my tax returns.
@aspidistra Hi, at the moment i have confirmed viewings in the Coimbra and the Castello Branco regions. To be honest I haven't ruled anywhere out yet. I hope to have a better idea after this trip of where to focus on. 😊

Welcome! We got our NIF through border.io. It was easy to do online. However, if we had to do it all over again, we probably would just use eimigrante for everything. They have been really helpful. Gilda is on the GMP show every Monday and her office and team (all women) have been nothing but professional, amazing, and helpful.
When we did our scouting trip, we had a list which we tried to achieve in each place. Going to the market, walking through the main square, hiking nearby, asking someone for directions, try to meet up with local expats.
It really helped to get the vibe of each place.
