Hi,  We are in the starting process of getting Golden Visa with a view to retiring in Portugal from Hong Kong some time in the future.  I've been an active member on our Hong Kong expat forum for 15 years so hoping this is the same:)

The last few days I have been trying to get the bank account open.  We did hire advisors here in HK but they have not been very helpful.  Novo Banco sent opening documents requiring notarisation and apostille service which will cost more than EU 1000 here in HK.  So I tried Banco Atlantico which said it "took just a few minutes" to open an account online with video verification... well 5 hours of sitting in queues for the video and technical issues I gave up at midnight yesterday.

Anybody here know of a bank which does actually offer an account opening service which will not bankrupt me before I even arrive?

Hi and welcome
To be honest somewhat surprised at the cost you have been quoted. Do want an app based bank account or online?
Ex-Pats is linked with EI - they have a good reputation here although we have not used them ourselves- may be worth trying? Look in the business directory.
Boa sorte

@cabanastavira The cost is to notarise documents in HK.  Its very expensive to get it done here (mainly because it's so rare I think).  I managed to get the Atlantico app to work in the end - now waiting for my account.

Hello Sarah,

You can try your luck with  ActivoBank.

@andrei
Thanks for that - I couldn't remember the name earlier.
