Hi John, lots to read up on by looking through old posts on the forum. Was there anything in particular you were needing to know about the Algarve or do you already know the area?

@aspidistra Hi, We are planning on moving to the Algarve very soon, but are not sure what community would be best for us. We are not golfers, love the "local feeling" and would like to meet up with expat walking groups.

@mer it might be worth considering being slightly inland for a more Portugueuse feel and best access to the countryside although of course there is wonderful walking along parts of the coast where it isn’t built up.

There are several walking groups, we did some great walks with a chap from Lagos, I believe he is on Facebook but I came across the walks in the Algarve News 'what's on' page. It’s probably easier to find other walking groups once you are over there. It is a great way to see the countryside and meet fellow walkers. They mostly run through the winter only, stopping in the hotter months.
