Can anyone recommend immigration lawyers below? I am from the UK and have the ability to apply for a portugese work visa - but I have heard a lawyer will be able to speed up and make this an easier process.

@hank_2021 hi thank you for the link to immigration help company as I need help to navigate the temporary resident visa to allow me to retire here in Tavira after my 90 day visitor allowance is up end of May. Using the services of EI seems better than applying at the SEF office myself. Any help from expats in Tavira most welcome to make contact. Thanks.

@davidd Keep in mind, you may have to go back to your home country to apply. We Americans, for example, have to apply from the consulates in the U.S. Not sure if you are already an E.U. citizen or not.

@hank_2021 hi Hank thank you for your reply. I am a UK passport holder resident in Cayman Islands. Umm so looks like I will have to return there and appply for temporary resident visa at the New York Portuguese consulate as they look after interests in Cayman Islands. Do you think there is any benefit in me seeing an Imigration lawyer here in Tavira? Any idea how long it takes to get the temp residency visa? Enjoy your day !

@davidd You'll want to speak with an immigration attorney such as Ei! or take one of the classes offered by Expats Portugal.

That said, I'm unaware of any Tavira immigration lawyers. Doesn't mean they don't exist, but I think they'd be based in the larger cities like Lisbon or Porto.

A D7 visa, which is what you need as a first step towards a residency permit can vary in terms of how long it takes from consulate to consulate and from person to person.  Generally, GENERALLY, my understanding is that it's like 6 - 8 weeks.
