So I have been researching the D7 for awhile now and have talked to different consulting companies and they were aware I am employed and can work from anywhere and they said that’s fine and allowed

Today I happened upon an article and it said that remote and professional employment income will NOT be allowed or considered.

this is the first I have ever heard that and it has scared the heck out of me. Does anyone know if that is true or is the article incorrect?

It would be very worth your time to put yourself in touch with the professionals at Ei! They do this stuff for a living and have helped many, many of us work through the D7 process.

Ei! Assessoria Migratoria

Thats the link for their info in the business directory.

LaTisha - As Jeff suggests, Ei! in an amazing group of Pros who specialize in this. I believe as long as the income is coming from a country other than Portugal, you should be ok. I mean, it is bringing money into the economy of Portugal. That being said, I am no expert in D7 matters, and Ei! is. So, I would contact their team. Best of luck to you! Hope to see you in the Land of Hopes and Dreams.

@latisha Try to watch GMP (Good Morning Portugal) show on YT next Monday, and ask that to the Ei! representative.

We're here on our D7 and I am working remotely. I haven't heard anything saying you can't. I know Spain has some rules about that, but I'm confident Portugal doesn't. Especially since Portugal taxes your worldwide income.

Can you link the article perhaps?

Cause if we're not going to be allowed to work remotely, this might be a short-term trip then.

@hank_2021 whew! Thank goodness for your reply!! I thought it wasn’t accurate because I had only heard it was ok up until the article. I had even spoke with a company in Portugal that said remote work can be used.

Although I am not a pro, I would be shocked if Portugal didn't allow remote work to not count towards a D7. I mean, they are gaining tax revenue, AND the local markets, clothing stores, artists, restaurants, etc. all benefit as you are spending money brought in from a foreign source into Portugal. Why would they not desire that? But, as I said earlier, I am not a D7 expert. But I have heard this topic brought up before and it seems clear to me that this is allowed. But I would CERTAINLY check with the professionals at Ei! as they rule on all matters D7.
