So I have been researching the D7 for awhile now and have talked to different consulting companies and they were aware I am employed and can work from anywhere and they said that’s fine and allowed
Today I happened upon an article and it said that remote and professional employment income will NOT be allowed or considered.
this is the first I have ever heard that and it has scared the heck out of me. Does anyone know if that is true or is the article incorrect?
@latisha Technically, D7 is a "passive income" visa, designed originally to attract retirees who can prove sufficient income to essentially not become a burden on the state. I think several people have posted in this forum that they were able to show their remote work contract etc to meet the burden of sufficient income. But, as others have said, it's worth a few bucks to get the legal experts to confirm.
That is great! They will take good care of you. I look forward to seeing you in Portugal! We will have a big picnic in the honor or your arrival!!
I also heard a Portuguese lawyer said that remote work can't count as a passive income, so people who work remotely are not qualified for applying for the D7 visa. But I asked the Portuguese consulate in Vancouver, Canada, and they told me the remote job meet the D7 visa requirement. Therefore, you should check your local Portuguese consulate to see if it meets the requirements.
