Hi everyone!
Need some help. We went last Friday Dec 30, to get our dog’s health certificate completed and they turned us away. They said that the EU health document they downloaded to fill out shows that our dog needs a rabies titer test (it takes at least 30 days to complete), not just the rabies vaccination. The titer test is the “blood draw / wait 30 days” one that is done if you come from a high rabies country, which the US is not. Help! We showed them article after article that say that the titer test is not needed to enter Portugal from the US but they said since it was on their generic export document list that the vet would not sign off on the health certificate. Their form also lists de-worming but at least that can be done instantly.
I am seeing that the only tests / compliance that needs to be done is the 1. overall health evaluation of the dog, 2. current rabies vaccination (our dog is 13 years old and has had his rabies vaccines current for years with his last one being in July), 3. a 15-digit microchip and that’s it. Am I missing something?
@pmh Is it possible to let me know the vet you used in Oregon? Or anyone else with a recent experienced vet I can call? Did your vet produce the forms or did you download them somewhere? I may try to call them to confirm the requirements and either have them speak with our vet or drive up there and make an appointment. We are currently in Southern Oregon.
We fly to Portugal 14 January. Help and thank you!
We used East Hills Vet Clinic at 122nd and Sunnyside in Clackamas.
Here is a link that you can use to find an accredited vet in your area.

Our vet printed out the form. FYI, they do not start counting the days since the rabies shot until after your pet has its microchip installed.
Yikes! Nothing like a bit of stress right at the end! Hope you got it resolved!
