Are rental agreements supposed to take this long?

Hello everyone it's my first post

I've been in contact with casa Portuguesa to find an apartment for a 1 year lease to get my D7 but after a month of looking at listings only 1 apartment was visited. I agreed immediately (the apartment also did look good so not a hard decision 😀 ) but it's been over a week now and I haven't heard back if the offer was accepted. I've emailed the agent at casa multiple times and even messaged her on the watsapp number she contacted me on for the viewing but literally no response. I'm wondering if maybe I'm not understanding the process right and do rent agreements in portugal just take a long time to agree and prepare? It seems to be a popular company for the people on this forum so how was your experience with them?

Thanks

Mac

It took roughly a week from when we offered to rent our apartment until we were confirmed. It took another 2 weeks to get the lease processed. It really depends on the realtor in charge of the property, and I imagine the landlord they are representing.  Our landlord lives in Hong Kong so the realtor has to communicate with the landlord who may be traveling.

@jonesdn2020 that sounds reasonable but I'm not getting any communication from my realtor. If the landlords travelling or if the offer is still being considered it would be great to know that

Beware of the email going to spam issue.  Sometimes I create a new email thread and have luck. Continuing to reach out on whatsapp is probably the best way.

We used Ei! to help us find our rental in Portal and they viewed 3 apartments for us in about a week and we got our signed lease done about a week later.

Top notch. They communicated with the owners, visited the properties, made a video of the properties, got the lease, reviewed it, sent it to us...

Pretty much everything. Great experience.

We sent them links from idealista.

Next up, they are going to get our Internet and utilities set up for our arrival on the 22nd.

Now, just have to get rid of the rest of this crap lying around.

@hank_2021

Just got my electric and water contracts done and working on the Vodafone contract now. Arriving next Saturday so should be all good to go. Andreia (Casa Portuguesa) has the Apartment Keys in hand and will be meeting me Saturday afternoon.

Yes... Andreia negotiated with the landlord on my behalf for the apartment, setup the water, electric and the cell/internet.

p.s. ended up going with a MEO package for my cell, internet and TV (Vodafone hadn't installed fiber in this building yet since its a recent renovation)

TV - 170 Channels, Netflix, etc (english channels also)

Internet - 1Gig Download / 200Mbps Upload Wifi 6 Router

Cell - 5G with 3500min/3500text per month, speedtest this morning 499Mbps Down/51.1Mbps Up

€62 per month (Unlimited plans available from all carriers, MEO is €100mo/2yrs)
