After 6 months of roadblocks I finally own a 300 year old plus ocean view 3 story stone farmhouse and land on Sao Miguel Island. Its considered a landmark here. I just got back from 9 days there and signed all the papers and paid the Euros. There were some hiccups and a few 'surprises' I will detail in another post later. The house is basically habitable and has working water & electricity. This house with be a code inspectors paradise though. But since it is older than 1952 they are all grandfathered in. 😀 The house is huge by Azores standards. 5 bedrooms and 2 full baths. Also comes with an ancient stone barn, 4 pig sty's, a laundry building with washboard built into sink a garage/workshop, a fruit tree orchard, several acres of farm land and best of all a stone outhouse with a tile roof. Still appears functional. Now I just need too put in a kitchen and redo at least one of the bathrooms among other things.
