Hi,

After being here for 5 years i obtained a Cartao De Residencia Permanente from SEF. Last year I read that these cards are now being replaced with Cartao de Cidadao. After six weeks of trying I got through to SEF to make an appointment to replace the Residencia card. I was told this could not be done until it expires in 2023.

It is a pain having to have various pieces of paper to produce for Tax, Health, Social Security and Residence. A Portuguese friend of mine says I should be able to get a Citizens card from the Notaries office in Viseu.

What experience have other people had with this document?
