Hi everyone, how do you change your address with SEF after moving to a new apartment? Do we need make an appointment with SEF and go there to change the address? Or we could do it online? Also, what documents do we need to change the address? Thanks!

i'm trying to do that also. From what I can gather you need to make an appointment with SEF (good luck getting through) and attend in person. You will need to take proof of new address so prob your lease is best. I would also take a recent bill with the address if possible. If you've updated the financas site you can download a proof of address document that would also suffice. goto-

https://www.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/pt/consultaCertidoesForm.action

select tax residence from "certificate" drop down list, then select all from "state" dropdown list, and lastly put in the time range. I put in from last year to the current date.

It will then let you download the most recent address confirmation document.

@miao to change the address you need to do the following (assuming you have already changed it for your NIF) -

https://kkpradeeban.blogspot.com/2017/01/changing-address-in-portugals-financas.html

NOTE- the link that works to request the change is the one at the bottom of the page

https://sitfiscal.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/pessoal/morada/alterarMoradaSingularesForm1

you then get sent a code by post which you then use (possibly?) with the second link - (not sure if it is still valid)

https://www.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/pt/menu.action?pai=154

(if it doesn't work use the 1st link again to confirm code)  and you are done!...for Finacas anyway...

We will have to do this in a couple of months too. Ugh, from everything I'm reading about the state of SEF, I say "good luck to us all".  If you do have luck getting an appointment and going to it, please let us know how and how it went. Thanks!

@konni just a quick update - i finally found the correct number to contact to arrange an appointment to update home address with SEF. My bank manager actually put me on the right track. The number is only relevant for Tavira and surroundings though. When I phoned them they advised I have to wait until April 20th before phoning to arrange an appointment as they are not taking any until then....perhaps due to SEF disbandment? (In which case it will prob be the same everywhere). Anyway will let you know how it goes when I call in April...hopefully I wont have months to then wait for an appointment, but not holding my breath on that. They claim you have to notify them within 60 days...then make it impossible to do so. 🙄 🤯

@blaze451 Best to keep a stored record of all the attempted calls/dates on your phone...to show them later if they want to penalize you for not contacting them with the notification 🤨

@alleycat yep, I have already filed away a few emails I fired of trying to arrange appointments with responses advising to phone. Plus the office I need to go to is very small with just 2 ladies working in it, one of whom I spoke to  advised the April 20th date to re-phone. So its unlikely they will say anything as they are aware of the delays anyway...its just a hassle I could do without...hopefully won't be moving again for a good few years if not longer.

@blaze451 Well, according to the latest news, SEF will be disbanded April 6th, the latest... but you can't trust what the government promises, as the previous timelines failed.

@antonio_f maybe they then need 2 weeks holiday to get over the stress of it all 😉 🤣

@miao Hi. No, I have not tried yet to get an appointment because we have not moved into our new place yet.
