D7 income requirement

I've been reading up on the requirements for a D7 visa for a week, and am unable to find a "definitive" opinion on this question.

If I am able to transfer "years" worth of cash into a Portuguese bank before applying, does that meet the "income" requirement of the D7? I don't currently have 1000+ Euros per month of pension or investment income, but I have the cash to support myself indefinitely. I also have an online business that does quite well but that income is not guaranteed.

Any idea on whether this will meet that requirement? Has anyone done this?

I wondered this too - do I need to prove 'freelance digital nomad' income per month as well as have this amount in the bank (I have a lucrative job in the UK I can locum at, and I'm loath to swap it for more hours doing digital nomad stuff that pays far more poorly until the last possible moment - ie once we're there!) I can easily have this in the bank - but the longer I can work the higher paid job before we move then the better! Did you ever get a straight answer on this?

@unreal  Here are the cash requirements necessary to have in your Portuguese Bank Account to satisfy the income portion of the D7 process:

  • 1st adult (applicant): 100% of the current minimum wage (635€) = 7,620€/year;
  • 2nd or more adults: 50% of the current minimum wage (318€) = 3,816€/year;
  • Children and young people under 18 and over-dependent children: 30% of the current minimum wage (191€) = 2,292€/year.

@livinginusa

That adds up for Applicant +1 at 11,436 Euro/Yr.

Is one year amount in a Pt. Bank sufficient to satisfy the requirement?

Hi How does an under 18 have an income of €2.292 a year? Would it be covered by your income/wages as a parent? And if you earned more then €7.620 for the 1st parent would that cover the 2nd person's income if they didn't work? Thank you
