EU citizen (Irish) wanting to obtain a residence card - working remotely

Hi there!

I'm wondering if anyone here has had any experience obtaining a temporary residence card as an EU citizen? I have an Irish and British passport. I'm currently a tourist living in Porto (2 months into my 3 month automatic visa). I own an online business and believe I have all the documents required to process the residence card.

It sounds like a relatively straightforward process, though I would like hear from people who've gone through the process whether there are any 'gotchas!', or anything else I should be aware of?

Thanks!

Hi, as an Irish citizen you can just go to your local Camara and ask to register as resident and you will be given a 5 year residence document

@pamalcobaca

Quick question.  I have dual citizenship, US and Irish, and plan an extended stay which will require applying for a residency permit.  Would you happen to know if, as an Irish citizen, I would need to provide an FBI background check?

Thanks.

@lowellmk As far as I know you don't need that if you are an EU citizen, you just go to the local Camara with proof of address...

Correct that you don't need a criminal record check.

Here is a link to the relevant authority on the matter, although in practice the documentation requirements may vary slightly depending on location and circumstances.
