New DN Visa - A little miracle and personal statement question

Hi All,

I am applying for the new Digital Nomad visa and when I went to book an appointment a VFS it was booked up until the end of the year which was unexpected. I must not be the only one doing this - so be warned if the London office is the office you use. I also found out that I have to use London as I live in Devon - I cannot use the Manchester or Edinburgh office instead.

But I decided to just check the VFS site a couple of times a day and yesterday by a little miracle a slot was available for next Wednesday! I grabbed it while I can.

I need to write my personal statement and just wondered how much detail is required? Or just keep is succinct - reasons why you are moving to PT and how you will earn a living.

Any tips are gratefully received. So lucky to have this community.

Thanks

Maxine

Ei! created ours and I am looking at it now. Several pages long but mainly due to documenting our income sources. Has our names, DOB, passport numbers and validity period, US address.

Motives were pretty short and succinct. Better future, culture, language and mentions each of us as married to one another coming to Portugal.

Mentions documents in the application required for the visa like criminal background check, NIF, etc..

@jonesdn2020 thank you for that. That's great. 😊 Just one question - what is the validity period?

For this new visa, you don't need NIF or bank account until you get there - so a few less things on the list!

@maxine The passport issue date and expiration date. You cannot enter Portugal if your passport expires in some time frame. I think it is 6 months past your SEF date or VFS date but not sure. Forgot to mention that it is written in Portuguese.

@maxine VSF already has new requirements on their site for the new digital visa? So you applied and scheduled appt or you just first scheduled appt and will just have application for it? No NIF or Bank needed in advance? Does that mean no large savings amount required as well? What about needing a lease in advance?
