I have a Portuguese temporary residence permit and I will be applying for a spouse reunion residence permit for my wife.
Currently we are not in Portugal, but will be in April this year. Can we start the process of applying now, or should be wait until we are both in Portugal - this will mean she enters on a tourist visa.
A complication is that my wife's home country is Taiwan. There is no Portuguese embasdy in Taiwan so I presume we need to use the Macau consulate to get documents checked.
I know that there is a 3 month validity rule for documents (e.g. criminal record checks) so I am cautious of applying too early for these docs.
