We are new to the Forum, moved to Portugal in February - long story short, we came to look for houses, fell in love with one, bought it and then could not go back to the UK, so we moved in 😊 - and have gone to almost all procedures to become properly resident here. We are now working on the Double Taxation form, which we understand has to be submitted to DSRI in Lisbon. We wonder if all we have to do is post the form with a cover letter or if we have to do anything additionally. Can anyone help us with this?

Unless you are skilled with taxes, I would suggest an accountant to look it over & send it. If you have it like you want it, I would add a cover letter, never hurts, Welcome to Portugal!!
Where did you put down roots? We are in the Algarve.

We are ready to submit it, and have already talked to an accountant, so i guess it is just sending it, as you said.

We are in Santarém district, very close to Rio Maior, in a house in the Serra de Aires e Candeeiros Natural Park. It is beautiful here and we can't believe how much nicer the weather is compared to the UK 😊

I am Brazilian by birth, so the language is not a problem to me, but my husband, being English, still has to learn it. I am very happy here, and it feels like home already.

We are waiting for all this pandemic stiff goes away so we can explore this beautiful country properly.

How long have you been here?

Welcome to Portugal, Your new home town sounds wonderful! I'm so happy for you and your English is perfect even though you live with a Brit 😀 Sou Americana. We bought a townhouse here in 2017 and came as often as we could. In 2018 I decided it was much better here for my rheumatoid arthritis so I got my residency and stayed. My loving husband came as much as he could, usually every 2 months until he retired last August 2019. We sold our home in the US and then sold the townhouse here and bought a bigger 4 bedroom house just a Km from the ocean and overlooking the bird estuary here just south of Pêra. Every day I feel like I wake up in Heaven. We had family & friends coming all this year to visit from May through December. COVID put a stop to that. We have used the past 9 months to put in new floors in 5 rooms and completely gut and remodel the kitchen. Now we just need guests. When you make your rounds of Portugal and you come to the beautiful Algarve, message me & maybe we can join you for lunch or show you around.
