Apologises if this already exists elsewhere, but searches haven't thrown it up.
I'm getting ready to matriculate my 4x4.
I was hoping somebody had a a list of items they test/things they do during the 'enhanced' matriculation examination? Above and beyond the normal yearly safety test which I believe basically breaks down to the following?)

"Before carrying out the inspection, the test centre will verify the vehicle's registration number, model, motor and chassis numbers and tyre sizes. The vehicle is then tested to ensure the following things are in proper working order:

Tyre tread (must have a minimum of 1.6mm of tread remaining)
Exhaust emissions
Shock absorbers
Brakes
Wheel alignment
Windscreen wipers
Headlights
Indicator and brake lights
Steering
Horn/hooter
Speedometer
Seatbelts
Mirrors and reflectors
Licence plate
Cars are also checked for the condition of the bodywork, mirrors, and windscreen as well as safety belts. For example, if a door cannot open it may be considered a safety violation.

The following should also be in the car and may be checked:

A yellow, orange or red reflective danger jacket
One red reflective warning triangle
Spare wheel and the tools necessary to change it
The car must also be hygienically clean."

Cheers in advance!

Hi

While all of the above may be correct. The Matriculation test is an IPO test but with a bit more involved. At the test the testers will have your Certificate of Conformity and from that they will test Everything that the Certificate says was correct when the vehicle was made in the factory. The test is a long one well over an hour or more and if there is anything fitted or changed they will find it and it may fail. When i matriculated my car it took an hour and a half.

Good luck

Peter

Thanks Peter,

Regarding: "anything fitted or changed"

Is this from the CoC or just in general?
ie: do they work to just the list of items from the CoC or do they use their own judgement?
So if larger wing mirrors have been fitted it would not be on the CoC, but they might think they are larger etc

You may need to pressure wash underneath also. They don't like it if there is any oil residue.

Hi

The car has to be presented as it left the factory that's why the need for the Certificate of Conformity.

As has been mentioned you will need to clean under the car also the tyres have to be matched pairs no Goodyear and Michelin also check if they are rated for weight like a commercial vehicle as a 4X4 may have a weight rating because of its weight.

It's possible to Matriculate a car in a day. I did
