Tinted Windows

Portugal
Automotive safety glass are authorised according
to Regulation 43, however, after-market window
films are not. So, window films are not permitted
under the Portuguese law. According to the
Portuguese Decree of approvals, this includes all
windows, even those rear of the B-pillar. However
since the actual wording of the decree does not
specifically refer to window film, their position is
only one interpretation of the law.

NOT AUTHORISED IN PORTUGAL

The EWFA has filed a complaint against Portugal
on 16 January 2002. An EWFA meeting with
Commission responsible established that there is
restriction of trade activities. Commission to write
to Portugal and confirm the infringement of free
circulation of goods and urge withdrawal of the
regulation. If Portugal fails to comply, the
European Commission will bring the case before
the European Court of First Instance.

hmmm, you think if i push it i might get away with it?

I think that's right DW. I know the 'tuning' fraternity are complaining that they can't tint their windows.

not sure about in Portugal but in the uk no problem for mot to have tinted glass or blacked out glass on rear side windows and rear screen, a slight tint is also allowed on the front windows in the uk,

also in the uksomething that can pass an mot can also get you points on your licence as the police use the road traffic act for what can and cant be fitted to a car and the ministry for transport use the mot testing guide. both very different
