Road tax (IUC) refund
Portugal has lost a case in Brussels regarding the annual road tax of older vehicles imported into the country.
Unfortunately, as with most taxes, any refunds can only be given up to for up to 4 years, so if you imported your car in 2007, you will not get a full refund.
Your car needs to be originally registered in the EU prior to July 2007 for this to have any effect, as the IUC before that date was very low. Cars first registered before 1981 are free of IUC.

I got a form to reclaim most of last (my first) years tax when I went to pay this years. It's over 400€!
Can anyone tell me how I can claim tax back. I moved to Portugal in Nov 2014 and brought my Landrover Freelander with me. I matriculated is in 2015 and have been over the odds for 5 years. Will I be entitled to a refund?
Yes you are entitled to a refund. Go to your local finances office to get the neccessary form. Or wait til your next tax is due and you should be offered the info then.
Although it's over 2 months since I handed mine in and nothing yet!
