Planning for 3-4 week trip to identify where to move to

Folks, we've been soaking up as much as we can from the forum and now that we have our first vaccine shot, we'd like to begin planning our trip to figure out where to live (at least initially). Based on our key requirements, we've identified a bunch of areas/cities/towns, though the list is definitely too long and needs whittling. We are also aware that some requirements are contradictory - near beaches and lower tourism doesn't usually jive...but of course all these are relative.

Would love to get some critiques/suggestions on the places list but the requirements are fair game too - are we being too spoilt/entitled - be brutal! 😉

Key Requirements:

  • Walkability/history/character
  • Broadband
  • Cafes/restaurants/bakeries
  • Fresh market
  • International airport within an hour/easy access
  • Beach/waterfront nearby
  • Good healthcare nearby
  • Good public transport access (train, highway)
  • Not overrun by tourists

Target list for visit:

  • Porto/Nova de Gaia/Foz do Douro (5 days + 2 days for wine country)
  • Lisbon/Cascais (5 days)
  • Aveiro (1-2 days)
  • Algarve - Portimão/Armacao de Pera/Tavira (7 days)

Also, if you know a travel planner/relocation expert who can help us, we'd love a referral! We're planning to use the "Ask the Expert" feature to get more first-hand info on certain areas.

We're a couple in our 60s, planning to keep my US job for several years (hence the high priority of broadband and airport access).

Really appreciate you reading to this point! Sorry for the long post!
