Hi, We want to move to Portugal next year. Where is the best place to live with astma/COPD? Except for the Algarve.

Thank you.

I have asthma and it isn’t too bad in Lisbon. Not sure about other areas but I usually do really well along the coast.

Also, albuterol inhalers are only 3.25 euros each. Much cheaper than in the states. I also use a nebulizer. A bottle of liquid albuterol is just 95 euro cents!

PS: I love your forum name! Quack quack!

Hi @maxgravy, Thank you for your reply. I read in the forum that some have trouble with the sea mist. That's why we thought more inland would be better.

And how is it with the Sahara sand?

Good to hear that the medicine is cheaper in Portugal. I use a Symbicort inhaler and sometimes Ventolin.

Friends and family call me Daffy (Daphne). I liked Daffy Duck when I was little. 🙂

@ducky Hi Ducky. Regarding the Sahara sands, it's not common them fly over here, but happens some times (did a google search and found out it last happened in 2017 and 2020), but it's never a big deal.

If for astma you need a drier region, you can try the Alentejo, a region in the south of Portugal, but north of the Algarve.

Hi Antonio, Thanks for your reply. Good to hear about the Sahara sand. I'm staying in the Caribbean at the moment and sometimes there is a lot of Sahara sand. Last year it was a thick orange mist and I was expecting to see camels walking by. I'm going to check the Alentejo Region. Thank you.

Sahara sand? No idea. I don't know about Symbicort but Ventolin is the same as albuterol. Here it's called salbutamol, but they're all the same.

I'm a big fan of ducks. I'm Thunder Duck on youtube if you watch the Good Morning Portugal show.
