@prod

Here’s the AIMA renewal page

Request renewal of residence permit – ePortugal.gov.pt

AIMA is working on their new website daily.

Agência para a Integração Migrações e Asilo – AIMA.

I use the following when I get stuck.

Service Desks – Immigrant Information Portal (sef.pt)
SEF webpages are being converted into AIMA webpages.

Consult the CNE

You are referring to the temporary resident permit? The AIMA site had a link to get an appointment for the renewal. I have heard from a friend that his lawyer intervened back when it was SEF and he was able to upload the documents without an appointment. I am tracking the whole renewal process now that it has transferred to IRN so I am still confused about AIMA involvement and if it will go back to online soon.

Hi we had a look at their websisite but no appts  in any city ! Similar to Sef days.Seems 75 people transferred to Aima so not surprised .My lawyer does not know what to do either .Seems you can get 6 month extention but only if you you can prove that you have tried to schedule  an appt so back to square 1 .We are GV so even more problematic .Will let you know if we make progress .

@prod Keeping a log or phone records of calls made to them and sending emails was always an approach in the past. Plus, screenshots of no appointments available. We have had folks in Portugal just show up at AIMA recently and give it a go then keep a record of what happened.

I would also register a complaint in their complaint book. Last I heard it was growing quite large at the end of 2023.

Let me know how it goes and I will update with any news from our local friends. We have our renewal at the end of August, so we have time but don’t want to be delayed.

@prod Have you tried the link @Antonio_F posted for the renewal on this post https://expatsportugal.com/new-forum/residency-visa-citizenship/tracking-residency-card-status-after-sef-is-disbanded/#post-36000

The renewals are scheduled through the siga website.

@prod I am wondering if appearing at the citizen shop and getting in the queue we might be able to at least schedule an appointment in person with some kindness or get squeezed in.

@jonesdn2020 Yes we were thinking along same lines .The usual problem is the aged security guy who insists on seeing your appointment confirmation before letting you queue  .Will let you know how it goes .

@prod Hoping if the IRN gets enough complaints in their complaint book they will go the route SEF took and open online renewals.
