Hello,

I had SEF/AIMA appointment for our residency permit card on 12th Feb this year. I still haven’t received my card yet. I’ve read other people’s post here and they have had the same issue.

I have sent an email at geral@aima.gov.pt from AIMA website. Just wondering if I should just wait for them to reply or should I enquire at my local CTT and ask them if there was any registered post that we might have missed. Does CTT drop a missed delivery card incase I have missed it.

Would be grateful for any advise.

Thanks

Jay

@jayb Indeed, it can take 90 days or more to arrive.  Nobody knows so far if it is 90 working or calendar days… if you add holidays to the equation then go figure. Just to be on the safe side, I’d go to the CTT for sure.

@jayb Yes, AIMA is a mess.  My wife and I began to renew our residency cards with SEF last June.  I finally got my renewal online in Sept. and she has not been able to get an appointment yet – almost a year later.  Terrible.

@runecarls It is indeed terrible that your wife was unable to get an appointment for a year. Maybe it’s the transition from SEF to AIMA that are causing these delays, who knows Sad . I guess we all are in the same situation and have to wait for AIMA to respond back. Thanks for your reply. I hope your wife soon is able to get the appointment for renewal, good luck.

I had my interview in late November 2023 and still have not received my residency card after almost 5 months.  No answers to emails to AIMA so I made a complaint through the yellow book – still nothing so far but at least an email back!  I have been told by my migration consultant and another lawyer that I should just keep waiting….It’s frustrating not to be able to track the progress of your application in any way.  At the time of my interview I was told the card would arrive in March 2024.  I had been checking at my local CTT periodically but finally gave up on that since there was never anything there.  I’ll post again on this thread if my complaint actually gets addressed.

@drbrenda Sorry to hear that your situation is the same as ours. I really hope it works out soon. We have tried the email and contact Us form but no response so far. I’ve checked with CTT and nothing there either. We tried the phone number on AIMA website but that’s not working for me as it comes back with Invalid Service. So, gave up on that as well. I guess we wait and post any update on this thread. Fingers crossed

Kind Regards,

Jay

If I were in your situation, I wouldn’t be able to resist checking, but for what it is worth, CTT did leave a card when they tried to deliver mine (and have done so on other occasions).

Hi, just wanted to updated that today I have received my temporary residency permit card through CTT registered post. There was no email or notification from SEF/AIMA. Would like to thank everyone for their support and suggestions.

Kind Regards,

Jay
